Statement From Minority Leader Will Barclay on Assemblyman Michael Norris’ Nomination for State Supreme Court Judgeship

“It has been an honor to work alongside Assemblyman Mike Norris, and while it’s disappointing that his time in the Legislature has come to an end, I’m excited for him as he embarks on a new chapter of his career. After years of dedicated service in the Assembly, Mike will pursue the opportunity to serve on New York’s State Supreme Court in the 8th Judicial District.

For eight years, Mike worked tirelessly to make the 144th Assembly District and New York state a better place to live. He has been a staunch advocate for reducing taxes, securing funding for public schools, and restoring public safety in Western New York’s communities. Mike’s knowledge of our election laws is unrivaled, and his passion for justice, government transparency and election laws make him an excellent choice to serve on the bench.

I want to personally thank Mike for the friendship and support he has always provided. As Chair of our Assembly Minority Conference, his leadership, guidance and presence were invaluable, and they will be greatly missed. On behalf of our members, I wish him all the best this November and in his future endeavors.”
