Speaker Heastie Joins Assemblymember Steck on Statewide Tour to Announce $2 Million Investment in Affordable Senior Housing

Speaker Carl Heastie continued his annual statewide tour today, joining Assemblymember Phil Steck at Colonie Senior Service Center to announce a $2 million investment that will support the King Thiel II affordable senior housing facility.

“This tour allows me to get a glimpse into the many different communities that make up this diverse state, and today I am honored to be joining Assemblymember Steck at Colonie Senior Service Center to announce this investment for local seniors,” said Speaker Heastie. “Our seniors are a critical part of our communities and this $2 million investment will help increase affordable housing opportunities for seniors in the Capital District.”

“After a lifetime of countless contributions to their communities and this state, our seniors deserve to have access to high quality affordable housing,” said Assemblymember Steck. “I am grateful to have Speaker Heastie here today to join me in announcing this critical investment in our seniors and our community.”

Today’s $2 million investment presented by Speaker Heastie and Assemblymember Steck will support infrastructure, property site improvements and on-site parking for the new King Thiel II affordable senior housing facility. The facility’s construction is intended to address limited competition and the large waitlist at King Thiel Senior Center I.

The facility will be a three-story building comprised of 125,629 square feet of living space and is scheduled to be completed in 2024. It will offer 99 rental units, housing 162 seniors, and will be more affordable than most competing facilities.
