LEGISLATIVE ACTION
The Legislature appropriates $5,774,275,000 on an All Funds basis, a net reduction
of $5,350,000 from the Executive budget submission. This reduction reflects the
Executive request subsequent to the submission of the Executive Budget, to
decrease the appropriation for interest costs associated with Federal loans to
the Unemployment Insurance Benefit Fund by $7,000,000. The Legislature increases
the Aid to Localities, General Fund appropriation by $1,650,000 for the following
programs: $500,000 for the United Auto Workers Local 846 for workforce education
and training; $500,000 for Westchester/Putnam Counties Consortium for Worker
Education and Training; $150,000 for Central New York Labor Agency, Inc.; and
$500,000 for Consortium for Worker Education/Workforce Development Centers.
The Legislature allocates TANF funding in the amount of $4,300,000 for the Youth
Education, Employment and Training Program and $25,000,000 for Summer Jobs for
Youth. The Legislature appropriates an additional $1,718,000 for the Displaced
Homemaker Program for existing sites, as well as $1,266,000 for the Jobs for
Youth Program.
