The Office works closely with the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance, local social services offices, the Office of Children and Family Services, the Department of Law and others to prevent fraudulent activity in the welfare system. Approximately 65 percent of the Office's operation are supported by the General Fund, and the remaining 35 percent is supported by funds the agency receives from the Federal government for fraud related to welfare, food stamps and Medicaid. The Office is included in the Education, Labor and Family Assistance appropriation bill. State Operations The Executive recommends an appropriation of $1,083,000, an increase of $91,000 over State Fiscal Year (SFY) 2001-02 levels. |
