Federal law requires that at least 60 percent of the Council's membership must be persons with developmental disabilities or members of their families. The Council's staff of 18 administers and monitors contracts with not-for-profit agencies to enhance services and service delivery to persons with developmental disabilities to improve their quality of life. The Council's staff ensures that Federal Funds are used to augment services and not to supplant other support. This agency is included in the Health, Mental Hygiene and Environmental Conservation appropriation bill. State Operations The Executive recommends an appropriation of $4,550,000, an increase of $250,000 or 5.8 percent. The $250,000 increase reflects anticipated additional Federal support. |
