New York State Department of Health

The New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) is accepting applications for its Refugee Medical Assistance (RMA) health assessment program. Applications are for non-competitive, per capita contracts. The program is designed to: identify individuals with health conditions not observed during or developing after the overseas exam; initiate appropriate immunizations; ensure refugees with problems are referred to primary and specialty care; eliminate barriers to successful resettlement; and protect the health of the U.S. population.

On the federal level...

Administration for Children and Families

The Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Administration on Children, Youth and Families (ACYF), Family and Youth Services Bureau (FYSB), are now accepting applications for the Basic Center Program (BCP). The purpose of the program is to make available alternatives for homeless and runaway youth who might otherwise end up in the juvenile justice system, mental health system, child welfare system or with law enforcement. Projects should be intended to ensure that the interventions help build skills and abilities that provide the youth with the necessary tools to be healthy and productive into adulthood. The eligible programs may supply youth, less than eighteen years of age, with food, clothing, counseling, emergency shelter and/or referrals for health care.

Administration for Children and Families

The Administration for Children and Families (ACF) is accepting grant applications through the Migrant and Seasonal Head Start competitive grants program. The purpose of the program is to solicit applications from organizations or agencies within a community that wish to compete for the funds that are available to offer Migrant and Seasonal Head Start services to infants, toddlers, preschoolers and their families. The goal of the program is to ensure that Federal Head Start monies are going to the organizations that are the most capable of providing high-quality early childhood education so that children may start school prepared to be successful.

On the private level...

Best Buy Children’s Foundation

The Best Buy Children’s Foundation is now accepting applications through its Community Grants program. The purpose of the community grants program is to grant awards to non-profit organizations or public agencies that give teens access to opportunities through technology. The organization or agency must be: within 50 miles of a Best Buy center of operations or a Best Buy store; serve a diverse population; and deliver community-based youth after-school programs that help build academic and 21st century skills in teens between the ages of 13 to 18.

Doris Duke Charitable Foundation

The Doris Duke Charitable Foundation Fund for National Projects is accepting letters of inquiry for its fund to support the performing arts field. Projects should be geared toward strengthening the national infrastructure of the professional nonprofit dance, jazz, presenting and/or theater fields or to improve conditions for the national community of performing artists in professional nonprofit dance, jazz, and theater. Projects must engage a broad national constituency, occur once (or periodically) rather than annually, and have the potential to significantly impact a field. The letters of inquiry should address: research projects assessing the national health of professional nonprofit arts groups or of individual professional artists; special national convenings for entire professional nonprofit performing arts fields (beyond traditional, national annual conferences); or special projects that address unique circumstances that affect an entire professional nonprofit field.
