The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) is currently accepting applications for Technical Assistance Grants (TAGs). TAGs are tools available to eligible community groups to increase public awareness and understanding of remedial activities taking place at certain contaminated sites in their communities. The grants are intended to help the recipient and the community it represents understand existing environmental data developed about the site, comment on site remedial activities and proposals, and share them with the community. No matching contributions are required on the part of the grant recipient.

On the federal level...

The Health Center Program, Health Resources & Services Administration

The Health Center Program seeks to improve health in underserved populations and communities throughout the United States. The U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration is currently accepting grant applications for its Health Center Program through the Service Area Competition (SAC). A SAC application is a request for Federal financial assistance to support comprehensive primary health care services for a competitively announced underserved area or population. All announced service areas are currently served by Health Center Program grantees whose project periods are ending in FY 2013.

Health centers must serve an announced service area as defined by the HRSA in order to be eligible to receive funds. All individuals in the service area must be given access to the center; for example, applicants cannot serve a single age group or a specific disease category.

U.S. Department of Agriculture

The USDA’s Rural Cooperative Development Grants (RCDG) program’s main objective is to enhance the economic condition of rural areas. Grants are awarded competitively on an annual basis to Rural Cooperative Development Centers that offer technical assistance to individuals and organizations. The Centers then award funds to individuals or entities to aid in the creation, expansion or operational enhancement of rural cooperatives and other business entities.
