  TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the legislative law, in relation to requiring the tempo- rary president of the senate and the speaker of the assembly to provide each member of their respective chamber with any reports issued to them   PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: Requires the temporary president of the senate and the speaker of the assembly to provide each member of their respective chamber with any reports issued to them.   SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1: Section 6 of the legislative law is amended by adding a new subdivision 9. Section 2: Section 7 of the legislative law is amended by adding a new undesignated paragraph. Section 3: Identifies effective date.   JUSTIFICATION: Often state agencies are required to create, reports and plans and the legislature is unaware that the report or plan has been issued. This bill would require that any report issued by any state agency be auto- matically forwarded to the temporary president of the senate and the speaker of the assembly for the purpose of distributing the report elec- tronically to the Members of the Legislature forthwith.   PRIOR LEGISLATIVE HISTORY: 2021-22: A.10277 2023-24: A.05537   FISCAL IMPLICATIONS FOR STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS: None   EFFECTIVE DATE: This act shall take effect immediately.

        AN ACT to amend the legislative law, in relation to requiring the tempo-
          rary  president  of  the  senate  and  the  speaker of the assembly to
          provide each member of  their  respective  chamber  with  any  reports
          issued to them

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Section 6 of the legislative law is amended by adding a new
     2  subdivision 9 to read as follows:
     3    9. Whenever the temporary president of the senate is issued  a  report
     4  from  any  agency,  authority,  board,  bureau, commission, corporation,
     5  department, division, office or task force or any other  subdivision  of
     6  the  state  or  federal  government  or  a county, city, town or village
     7  government within the state, the temporary president of the senate shall
     8  electronically distribute such report to each member of the senate.
     9    § 2. Section 7 of the legislative law  is  amended  by  adding  a  new
    10  undesignated paragraph to read as follows:
    11    Whenever the speaker of the assembly is issued a report from any agen-
    12  cy, authority, board, bureau, commission, corporation, department, divi-
    13  sion,  office  or  task  force  or any other subdivision of the state or
    14  federal government or a county, city, town or village government  within
    15  the  state,  the speaker of the assembly shall electronically distribute
    16  such report to each member of the assembly.
    17    § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
