NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

SUBJECT:
Oversight of the 2012-2013 State Budget and the programs that are under the purview of the Committee on Economic Development, Job Creation, Commerce and Industry and the Committee on Small Business

PURPOSE:
To review the implementation of the State Budget and its impact on the Programs under the purview of the Economic Development, Job Creation, Commerce and Industry Committee and the Small Business Committee

The Committee on Economic Development, Job Creation, Commerce and Industry and the Committee on Small Business oversee the State's economic development programs administered through the Department of Economic Development and the Empire State Development Corporation. The State's economic development programs include the Regional Economic Development Councils, which prioritize regional economic development strategies and projects; the Excelsior Jobs Program, which provides tax credits to businesses that create new jobs; the Minority Women Business Enterprise program which increases competiveness for small businesses involved in governmental contracting; and the State's Small Business revolving Loan Fund which provides alternative funding options for eligible businesses. The State Fiscal Year 2012-2013 economic development budget was an estimated $76 million. The purpose of this hearing is to review the overall impact of the 2012-2013 budget on the State's economic development programs.

Ten copies of any prepared testimony should be submitted at the hearing registration desk. The Committees would appreciate advance receipt of prepared statements.
