Budget Highlights
(Executive Budget: pp.149-150)
The Hudson River Park Trust was created by Chapter 592 of the Laws of 1998,
which provided for the creation of the Hudson River Park along Manhattanžs West
Side. The Trust is responsible for the design, development and maintenance
of the Park and is governed by a 13 member board.
The Trust is included in the Health, Mental Hygiene and Environmental
Conservation appropriation bill.
Capital Projects
The Governor proposes a $45,000,000 decrease in total funding for the Hudson
River Park Trust Fund from SFY 2000-01 levels. This results from a $13,000,000
reduction in state support for park operations that will be supported in SFY
2001-02 by revenue generated from pier development activities. The Executive
reduces Capital Projects Fund Advances to reflect the State's one time advance
appropriation for New York City's share of the construction costs of the Hudson
River Park.
In addition, the Governor proposes the allocation of $20,000,000 from the
Environmental Protection Fund (EPF), which is appropriated within the budget for
the Department of Environmental Conservation. This funding would represent a
portion of the State share of costs associated with the Park.
